Attention, third graders: the Sequim Irrigation Festival is looking for its 2027 Jr Royalty court.
Essay prompt
For the 132nd Sequim Irrigation Festival theme, “Set Down Your Roots and Kick Up Your Boots!,” write a 100–150 word essay about a time you felt connected to your community, like you were setting down your roots, and/or a time you celebrated or had fun kicking up your boots. Explain how these moments show what Sequim means to you.
Entry guidelines
- The contest is open to third graders in the Sequim School District.
- Complete the online application and upload the student’s essay, or download the application for a paper entry.
- Paper entries should include the student’s name, age, grade, school, teacher, telephone number, and email address, and be turned in through the classroom teacher by January 14, 2027.
- Four Jr Royalty winners will be selected from the school district and notified by phone no later than January 25, 2027.

Selected winners must be available to attend the following activities:
- TBD — Professional photo session
- February 19 — Pageant dress rehearsal
- February 20 — Festival Pageant
- May 1 — Festival Kids Parade
- May 8 — Grand Parade
