In September 2007 the float was making its way home from the Hoquiam Logger Days Parade. They stopped to take a break and discovered smoke coming from the float trailer. The float had apparently caught fire and was smoldering.
The Fire Department appeared quickly on the scene and pulled the float from the trailer. They extinguished the fire but the float was a total loss, as was the trailer.
The Festival Float Construction team has been working hard to find a base for the replacement float and a new trailer. Float construction for the 2008 float is now underway. Many businesses and individuals have donated money and services to help us get this float replaced. We are very thankful to this very giving community.
