2009 Design Contest

Two contests for the design of festival artwork are held each year. The first contest is for the logo design to be used on festival lapel pins, posters, float designs, programs, website, advertising, the royalty pageant, the festival events and more. The deadline for the Logo Design contest has passed and we will be determining the winning design in the next couple of weeks.

The second contest is for the design to be used on the Festival buttons.  The festival button contest is now underway and is open to elementary school children in the Sequim school district.

2009 Button Design Contest

At the beginning of each school year the Irrigation Festival holds a contest for the design for the next year's festival button.   The selected logo will be one that best conveys the theme for 2009, which is "Sequim - A Magical Place".  The selected logo will be used on 2009 festival buttons that will be sold by area 5th graders in late March.

All entries must be postmarked by October 17, 2008.  For a complete set of rules and a list of the prizes, you can download the rules and guidelines at the bottom of this page.

Theme:  Sequim - A Magical Place

For this theme picture a woodland area with trees and a lush undergrowth of bushes and ferns, where the trees protect the magical people beneath its many branches. Trees, such as Garry Oak trees, show a uniqueness and longevity that is similar to our town and community. The magic of the forest extends to the Sequim Dungeness Valley by the flowing rivers, streams and irrigation ditches. This magic also inhabits the people of the area which makes Sequim such a magical place.

A woodland concept will be used to convey the 2009 theme of Sequim - A Magical Place. This is a theme that will transcend all events, marketing media and products. The float is currently envisioned as a tree(s) that protests the magical people of the area (represented as wood nymphs/fairies).
