2014 Royalty Pageant

Royalty selection is one of the first activities to take place as the Irrigation Festival begins to gear up for the 119th year of the festival.  Juniors and seniors within the Sequim School District are eligible to participate in the pageant and be selected to the 2014 Royal Court.

The Royalty Court is one of the most visible parts of the Irrigation Festival.  They make appearances around town to represent the Irrigation Festival, travel with the float around Western Washington to other community parades, and also perform community service in the area.  In return the members of the Royal Court each receive a scholarship (one $1000 and three $750 scholarships), travel and float wardrobes, parade travel expenses, speech and poise training, and an opportunity to make life-long friends around the state and within the community.

The pageant was held on Saturday, March 1st at the Sequim High School Auditorium. It was an opportunity to see and listen to these intelligent and involved high school students as they vied to become part of this year's Festival Royalty. Congratulations to the newly selected court:

Kaylee Ditlefsen was named the winner of the Tracie Sofie Award for Congeniality.

The 2014 Junior Royalty were presented at the Pageant as well.  The Junior Royalty are third graders who have won for their essay "From Mountains to Sea what are your favorite things to see?"
