Princess Lindsay Merrell

Sponsored by Olympic Ambulance

Being selected as an Irrigation Festival Princess is a dream come true for Lindsay Merrell, who has dreamed of competing in the pageant since she was five years old. She hopes that young girls will look up to her as she has looked up to past royalty. As she travels around the region with the float and other members of the Royalty Court, she is looking forward to representing Sequim.  She loves Sequim because it “has cool stuff that you don’t find in the city”.

Born in Port Angeles, Lindsay, a 17 year old junior at Sequim High School, is the daughter of Kelli Curren. She is part of a large family and someday wants to have a large family of her own. After attending the University of Washington with majors in radiology and music, Lindsay plans to return to Sequim as a radiologist. She also loves fashion and her long term goal is to have an affordable fashion boutique.

Music is a large part of Lindsay’s life and this can be seen in her role as Choir President and participation in the Swing Choir. The Swing choir is more relaxed, does fun music, more shows and travels. Until this year she was also a member of the Select Choir. She has lettered in choir and been named Performing Arts Student of the Month for her efforts with the choir.

She is a member of Soroptomist’s Women in Networks program, and is a Link Crew leader. In this her second year with the cheerleading squad, Lindsay has lettered in cheerleading. Additionally, she is a member of the Random Acts of Kindness group and the International Club. When not singing or cheerleading, Lindsay spends her time dancing and shopping.

Lindsay enjoys meeting and talking to people, and is excited to be able to travel and meet people in other communities as she performs her role as Irrigation Festival Princess. She plans to make the most of this opportunity and expects to become more confident and comfortable with public speaking.
