Queen Holly Hudson

Holly has a very positive personality and she thinks that being on the Irrigation Festival Royalty Court will suit her well.  As the 2009 Irrigation Festival Queen Holly is looking forward to trying new things and making new friends. Holly is honored to be named to the Irrigation Festival Royalty Court, and envisions having lots of laughs, fun car rides, waving and representing Sequim well. She “is still in shock” and probably won’t realize what this means until the first parade.

Holly Hope Hudson, a 17 year old junior at Sequim High School, is the daughter of Greg and Esther Hudson.  She has one younger brother, Brendon. Holly has been on the cheerleading team for the past 3 years and is the varsity squad captain.  She enjoys playing volleyball, dancing, playing tennis, horseback riding and shopping. A couple of years ago she participated with the competitive volleyball team, Team Turbo. She plans to run the Race for the Cure in Seattle this summer on behalf of a family friend.

In her freshman year Holly had the opportunity to travel to Japan as an Ambassador for Sequim. That same year she represented Sequim High School at the Washington State Prevention Summit, whose focus is on the destructive decisions that youth face. She is now involved in TISSAM (Take it Seriously: Sex And Media) which helps younger teens learn about drug, alcohol and sex issues. Holly is a member of Soroptomist’s Women in Networks program, and Link Crew a mentoring program for freshmen students.

After high school she plans to join Youth With A Mission and then travel abroad to do mission work, where she will help children and families in need. Upon her return she plans to major in Marketing at Seattle Pacific University. She hopes that one day she can try out for the Seagals, the Seattle Seahawks cheer squad.
