Queen Jennifer Lancheros

Making a difference is why Jennifer Lancheros wanted to become a member of the 2008 Irrigation Festival Royal Court. She has seen past royalty as role models, and she wants to help out the community. Jennifer thinks “Sequim is an amazing town” and looks forward to telling the people she meets “how great Sequim really is”. She has already developed a close relationship with the other members of the royalty and she envisions making a lot of new friends over the course of the next year.

This is the third year that Jennifer is joining her church’s spring break trip to Mexico to work at an orphanage. These trips provide an opportunity to work and make a difference at the orphanage, as well as get to know the children that live there. Working with the children in the orphanage has inspired Jennifer to consider counseling at such an orphanage or teaching as her life work. Jennifer has found that she loves to travel and observe different cultures. She plans to attend a four year college and hopes to study abroad.

Jennifer is passionate about helping at school and as a member of the Link Crew, a mentoring group, where she helps incoming freshmen adjust to high school. She is one of 3 commissioners and feels privileged to be in charge of all the Link Crew leaders and activities.

Jennifer, a 17 year old junior at Sequim High School, is the daughter of Victor and Julie Lancheros. She has an older brother and sister. For fun she loves to sing, act, do some modeling and hang out with her friends. She has been playing soccer since she was 5. She began singing at church when she was 5 and acting and modeling when she was 10. These experiences have made her more confident, more comfortable with who she is, more content and make friends more easily.
