Kevin Magner

Kevin Magner grew up in California playing a variety of venues in various rock, country rock, and blues bands in the Sacramento Valley until he came to the northwest in the early seventies.  It was then that he became a regular soloist at coffeehouses in Bellingham, occasionally appearing as the featured musician/vocalist at Mama Sundays, a college sponsored coffeehouse.  In the northwest, Kevin’s musical experience has been as eclectic as his song repertoire suggests.  He has been featured as vocalist, lead guitar, and bass in hard driving blues and heavy rock bands, but he has also performed and sung in a variety of fusion bluegrass, country rock and gospel bands.

Accompanying himself on guitar and six string banjo, Kevin covers songs written by those who inspired his own style of music.  His musical roots can be traced back to his love of such notable blues and folk singers as Mississippi John Hurt, Tom Rush, Bob Dylan, Paul Siebel, and Gene Clark.  The most influential songwriters in his life include John Hiatt, Jackson Browne, Sonny Landreth, and Bruce Cockburn.  His own music incorporates heartfelt ballads, soft love songs, and traditional acoustic blues into a soothingly sweet, strong and emotionally memorable musical experience.
