Each year the junior royalty are chosen from the 3rd graders at Helen Haller and Greywolf Elementary schools. They are the winners of an essay contest “Why I like living in Sequim”.
Queen Victoria Marian Hall, Greywolf Elementary, is the 6th child of Jeffrey and Robin. She has five older brothers and one younger brother. She performs with Sunshine Generation, is a varsity cheerleader for the Sequim Wolf Pups Football Team and recently played “Molly” in a Peninsula Family Theater’s production of “Annie!”. She wants to be an actress when she grows up.
Essay: I like living in Sequim because it is my beautiful home. I love to look at the mountains from my house. The Dungeness River runs right through railroad bridge park where I like to play. The sun shines 365 days in a year but sometimes there are clouds in between. When there are no clouds, the stars shine so bright over Sequim. There is a lot to do in our town. There are nice people at all the places and activities that we have. Our teachers are the best teachers in the whole world. I love our football team and watching my brothers play. But the best thing in town is the Irrigation Festival. It’s the best time of the year because there is so much to do. I love my home and I am glad Sequim is my home.
King Hayden Crane, Greywolf Elementary, is the son of Charles and Debbie. He is a Cub Scout of pack 4490 in Sequim. He has been taking piano lessons for two years. His favorite subject is science and is especially interested in geology. He enjoys camping, hikes with his dogs and bike trips on the Olympic Discovery Trail. He's happiest when he's with his friends and he's laughing nearly all the time.
Essay: I like living in Sequim because I like watching the beautiful mountains and seeing the bald eagles flying in the fresh air. The deer tromp in the snow under the stars that twinkle at night. And the best of all the sunset where the sun turns orange and sky is lit with a bright orange glow. That is why I like living in Sequim.
Princess Karla Najera, Helen Haller Elementary, is 8 years old she lives with her mom and dad, Carolina and Rigoberto, and big brother Anthony. She loves to dance, sing, read and write. Karla is in gymnastics with the Klahhane club. Karla has 6 parakeets and one turtle that she teaches tricks. She enjoys school and is the self manager of Mrs Moore’s class.
Essay: I like living in Sequim because the green trees and the smells of the trees. The beautiful green grass land. Also the beautiful snow capped mountains. I really love the parks because you can go camping and see wild life. You also can see the sunset by the ocean. But the thing I like most about Sequim is the community, the people are very courteous. The community is very generous. We know everybody and they know us. The schools are secure and have great teachers. We have farms for crops and vegetables. I feel safe and secure in Sequim It is like a peace of paradise.
Princess Amber Lamb, Greywolf Elementary, is the daughter of Darcy and Steve and has 1 brother. Her favorite subjects are Science and Art. She loves to draw, design and play games on the computer. She is addicted to Webkinz, My Sims and collecting Littlest Pet Shop. After school she likes to play with her little brother and puppy, Spooky. Amber enjoys fall soccer and swinging from monkey bars as well as sleepovers and socializing with her friends and family. Amber loves musicals and her dream is to see "Wicked The Musical" on Broadway in New York City.
Essay: I like living in Sequim because most of my family lives here. One reason is I have many friends and I get to meet the new royalty every year, they are pretty and nice to me. Second reason is Sequim is special to me is because we have beautiful sunsets, mountains, parks and flowers. Our farms give us fresh vegetables and milk to help keep our bodies strong. I am lucky because I get to live in the mountains and play in the snow. In the summer we go to the beach and play in the sand. Third I like to watch all of the wild animals like the eagles, elk, deer, geese, ducks. My favorite animals are the buffalos and peacocks at the game farm. Finally I like to go to the Sequim festival and pageant each year. I like to meet the princesses and see the floats. Sequim is a nice place to live.
